International Women’s Day 2026

International Women’s day was spent in the studio, cleaning and repairing the final batch of bags, for The Things Women Carry Project quietly working on pieces that will soon be carried by women stepping into new chapters with confidence. It felt like the most fitting way to mark the day. Smart Works, empowering women with clothing, coaching and confidence as they step into new opportunities, it has been a real privilege to support Smart Works Leeds and its CEO Tracey Fletcher.

We also want to acknowledge just some of the incredible charities doing the work that truly changes lives. Refuge, providing safety and support for women escaping domestic abuse. The Eve Appeal, funding research and raising awareness for gynaecological cancers. Ask For Angela- helping women to keep safe and also marking its 10 year anniversary this year.

IWD is also a moment to recognise the women who build, lead, nurture and create — and we’re lucky to be surrounded by so many who inspire us daily. Brands like Cast & Found, crafting jewellery with a deep respect for materials and story; Nobody’s Child’s CEO Jody Plows leading the way in responsible fashion with accessible, considered design; Hot Tea Mama, a joyful, female‑founded tea company built on community and creativity and a passion for helping women find the perfect tea to support their bodies; Each one is a reminder of what thoughtful, female‑led business can look like.

And then there are the communities creating space for women to breathe, explore and reconnect with themselves. Outdoor Adventure Girls, encouraging women to step outdoors, build friendships and find confidence in nature. Repose Pilates Retreats, offering restorative, movement‑led escapes that put women’s wellbeing first. Adventure Queens, a supportive community helping women experience the world safely and boldly. These groups remind us how powerful it is when women gather, support one another and carve out time for themselves.

I also want to celebrate women in my own life. My mum, whose steadiness and strength have shaped everything I do, who paid for the first bag making courses I took when I began this business and is the first to order the first of every piece as soon as it drops! x . My bestie who proof reads everything… except this blog post so if its not quite up to scratch you know why, she also my best customer! My Pizza bored of besties who despite the lack of promised pizzas! are there every step of the way with this business! My two daughters, who remind me daily of the future we’re building and the example we set. Peggy the pup, who brings lightness, joy and muddy paws into even the busiest studio days. James- not a woman, but sacrifices a lot for this one to follow her dreams, and who’s support is unwavering.

Finally, here’s to every woman who supports Priestleys — through your messages, your purchases, your encouragement, your (continued) belief! Building this business is one of the biggest things I have ever done… and its not easy so — thank you! We see you, we celebrate you, and we’re grateful for you every day of the year.

Lastly, here is a little playlist of songs on Spotify, to help you feel strong empowered for the rest of this week and beyond IWD2026 ! xx
