Sustainability
“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”- Native Proverb
Why Leather?
At Priestleys, we believe in using leather as a sustainable option. Our leather is a by-product of the meat industry, which means we are utilizing materials that we would otherwise go to waste. This approach aligns with our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. By choosing full-grain, vegetable-tanned leathers, we ensure our products are plastic-free and biodegradable. Our processes and in-house crafting allow us to maintain full transparency and guarantee that no one suffers in the making of our products.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability guides our journey from start to finish. Inspired by our daughters, we aim to create a brand that leaves no footprint. We’ve educated ourselves on the link between fashion and environmental responsibility and keep these issues at our core.
Our top priority is ensuring no one suffers in making our products. Each item is crafted in-house, giving us full transparency and ensuring ethical production. We continually research and develop new methods to improve our processes, ensuring we stay at the forefront of sustainable fashion. Join us in shaping a brighter, more conscientious future.
Leathers
We partner with tanneries approved by the Leather Working Group to ensure sustainable practices. We continue to research the latest advancements in leather production, ensuring we use the most eco-friendly methods available. Each piece we craft blends elegance with eco-conscious values.
Hand Stitching
All our products are meticulously cut, stitched and finished by hand. We hold firm in the belief that traditional leather craftsmanship ensures the utmost longevity. Furthermore, this craftsmanship allows for potential repairs and transformations even after many years of use, making it possible to pass these pieces down to the next generation, ensuring a lifetime of continued use and appreciation.
“No Pattern should be without some kind of meaning.”
— William Morris
Exclusive Patterns
We design our own patterns, focusing on the potential of leather and quiet luxury, rather than relying on heavy metal hardware or embellishment, this allows us o explore the potential of the leather itself. Our unique patterns are inspired by the world around us and named after loved ones. Each pattern is a testament to our dedication to detail and individuality. We continue to explore new techniques and trends, ensuring our patterns are timeless.
Packaging
Our packaging, from the ribbon to the tissue paper, is made from recycled materials and is 100% recyclable. We use recycled t-shirts for business cards and recycled silk fibres for our promotional materials. We reuse boxes and packaging whenever possible. We strive to improve our sustainable practices continuously. Our commitment to sustainability extends to every aspect of our business, reflecting our belief that luxury and responsibility can go hand in hand.
Circular by Design
Your product has been cut, stitched and finished by hand for maximum longevity. Our products are designed with repairability in mind, so should a panel get damaged or a stitch break, please get it touch.
Care
All of our products are made with Vegetable tanned leather. High quality leather ages gracefully, after some time you may see signs of this in the form of marks and patina (a darkening of the leather). This is the natural ageing process and the sign of a well loved product. Should you wish to give your products a little TLC, please check our Blog for more detailed care advice
Storage
We have made the conscious choice, to avoid using extra resources to make additional items such as dust bags. We recommend that you keep your products safe and sound in their recycled boxed and tissue paper
